Croup
Croup is an upper respiratory infection that after the first few days
causes narrowing of the airway during the middle of the night for about 3
nights. The illness is seasonal, and typically occurs during the change in
seasons. The cold that causes croup is contagious. However, this
doesn't mean that anyone else in the family will get croup or laryngitis.
The photos below of both the normal airway, and the narrowing caused
by croup will give you an idea of what actually happens in the airway of a child
with croup.
