Here you will find just a few links. Many people have already devoted significant time and effort in looking for links. I'm, therefore, not going to "re-invent the wheel". Instead, I'd like to direct you to a few very important links.

The first two links are the most useful starting sites to look at. They are:

bullet

UMDF - The United Mitochondrial Disease Foundation is an organization that is spending much time, effort, and resources on behalf of all of us who have family members afflicted with mitochondrial disease. They are - as stated on their logo - "Redefining Hope". Because each person's disease may present differently, (though some may be similar at certain times with the illness), we must unite in order to "wake up the world" to the plight of patients with mitochondrial disease. I urge those who are thinking about joining to join, and those looking for an organization to raise money for, contact the UMDF.

bullet

European Mitochondrial Disease Network - An organization based in England.

bullet

International Co-Enzyme Q10 Association - interesting site from Europe where  much research is being done on Co-Enzyme Q10.

bullet

MELAS Online Network - There are some useful downloads in PDF format for those dealing with MELAS. The main website is no longer functioning

bullet

The Mitochondrial World - another GeoCities site constructed by the California support group.

bullet

Mitochondrial Metabolism Page - my version of a basic primer in mitochondrial biochemistry.

bullet

Mail lists - where you can join several mitochondrial disease e-mail lists including the following: (the link will direct you to each list's guest page registration. This list is not comprehensive, either.
